We are flying Aer Lingus from Chicago to Dublin and then on to Glasgow the same day. Baggage will be checked through to Glasgow. I know we will have to go through passport/Border control but will we have to go through security in Dublin before boarding our Glasgow flight?
According to the Dublin Airport website, as long as you have your boarding pass for your onward flight, no.

Probably not.
When you arrive in Dublin you will go through immigration for both Ireland and the UK. The flight from Dublin to Glasgow is like a domestic flight so there is no immigration in Glasgow.
That’s right, no security check going that way. But coming back, connecting from UK to a flight to US, there is security as well as US immigration.
As Slate mentioned there is a security check connecting from Europe (or UK) to a US bound flight. But it's a little different than the typical (TSA) security check - if you bought duty free liquor or other liquids at your starting airport, it will be in a sealed bag, it's fine for those to go through security (no 3oz limit like the US). The transit security line at Dublin is dedicated just for connecting passengers. When you arrive in Dublin (on the way back to US) there is usually someone there pointing you to the connections hallway, or just keep an eye out for the signs. You don't go all the way out to baggage claim. If I remember correctly, the order was transit security line first then passport control (US preclearance). In early November, 2025 on a Thursday mid day there were no lines at either stop, just went as fast as we could to get to the passport control booth.
