Headed to Ireland for a month in September. Tech wise we'll be taking a Android Tablet for day use and a Windows laptop. Plan is to use the tablet during the day to access websites, Goggle Maps, etc. for info.
Two questions, how hard is it, in town not the countryside, to get WiFi and how much of a concern is internet security at these sites?
I don't think there is any such thing as a "secure" wifi other than the one in your house that is passkey protected.
This includes anywhere like your local Starbucks, public library, Holiday Inn. Ireland would not be any more or less secure than these locations.
I think you'll find the cities and towns in Ireland to be pretty well-wired. Security of the connection is another matter so the usual cautions must apply.
On a more positive note, I found that most of the pubs had WiFi and so got into the habit of popping in for a quick pint while clearing emails and doing basic research... further evidence (as if any was needed) of what a great country Ireland truly is.
