Claire, We were in Dingle and County Kerry the first week of May last year and were able to catch a Gaelic football game at Dingle. It was a blast. The local Dingle team, looked to be 18-23 year range, was playing for the county championship against the team from Killarney. We sat with the locals in the Dingle stand and a local guy gave me a running commentary on the rules, type of play, etc. It was one of my favorite moments in Ireland, but there were many!!! There were a lot of fans in the pubs after the match. It may be difficult for you in late May to find a match as the season is winding down in May. Here is the web site for the County Kerry GAA http://www.kerrygaa.ie/ It is my understanding that after the season is over the counties put together an "all star" team of county wide players and take on other counties. You may be fortunate enough to be there for that. I believe it will be too late for rugby. I tried really hard to get info before we left the US and it is hard to come by, we totally lucked out finding a match during a day we were in Dingle...I think it was a Sunday and I don't regret taking a few hours away from the beautiful scenery to experience local athletic competition.
