Towards the end of our trip, we are driving from Bushmills to the Dublin airport to return the car before spending four days in Dublin. We have no interest in driving thru Belfast. We would like the most scenic without adding a lot of drive time to the day. We also may take a detour to see Trim Castle if we aren't "castled out" by that point. I've been playing with google maps. Does it make sense to go on the west side of Lough Neagh, driving thru Cookstown and Dungannon? Any scenic places to stop? Any pitfalls to avoid?
We do have ETA for UK and permission from rental car company to drive in Northern Ireland.
