My family is in a home exchange in Rosscahill (at the beg of the Connemara Region, between Moycullen and Oughterard) and we are ready to venture for the day to Co. Clare. We have a car. We want to make the most of this drive. We plan to go drive to the Cliffs of Moher early in the morning to beat the crowds. .It looks to be a two hour drive. After the cliffs, we want to make sure we make the most of our time in this area. We know we want to visit the Burren, but what other towns do you recommend in this area or along our drive back to Rosscahill? I think Ennis is too much further out, but we could go to Doolin or Lisdoonvarna, etc...I would appreciate any suggestions.

If it's a nice day take the ferry from Doolin to Insheer - about an hour boat ride to a quaint island and they take you very close to the Cliffs on the way back

In the Burren, I'd recommend a stop at Hazel Mountain Chocolate Factory (follow signs for Burren Perfumery, it's on the right before it). They have a lovely cafe/bakery and factory, and the chocolate is divine. I have also heard the perfumery recommended, but we did not stop there.
