We will be driving the Dingle peninsula and then onto Limerick. Which is the most scenic route from Tralee to Limerick? I see a road N69 that runs along the river Shannon and a bigger road N20 or N21 that seems more direct. For anyone that has made that drive, which was more scenic?
Adare village is on the N21. It's supposed to be one of Ireland's prettiest villages, and it would be a very pleasant stop on that route. I don't know the N69 so can't comment on it.
We actually did this during our last visit.
I suggest driving from Tralee to Ballybunion (a beautiful seaside village with a castle, beach and beautiful cliffs), and then just down the street to the Bromore Cliffs (lovely area), then onto Carrigafoyle Castle (where the Siege of Carrigafoyle took place in 1580), through Tarbert, and then along the Shannon on N69. The entire drive only takes two hours (not counting stops). I suggest you google image these places to see if you're interested.
Adare is a lovely village, but the drive from Tralee to Adare and then into Limerick isn't really anything special.
Just my two cents.
