Besides having GPS what road map is most recommended for Ireland?
Everyone has their own preferences. Many seem to favor the Ordnance Survey map. We used the
AA Road Map Ireland and it worked quite well for us.
The Collins Atlas worked well for us in combo with our Garmin. We picked it up in the Dublin airport on arrival. Very reasonable price.
I use the AA atlas for Ireland. Not let me down yet.
If you need great detail - back roads, rivers, streams, railway tracks, historic sites, monuments, hill gradients, etc. - Michelin's 1:400,000 scale maps are perfect.
Both the Collins Road Atlas and the AA version are scaled at 1 inch = 3 miles, which I believe is more detailed than most of the other formats.
