Hi All- We are traveling to Ireland in June and have a large rental van (it is a Ford Tourneo- apparently seats 9-there are 6 of us with luggage.) We want to do the drive around the ring of Kerry but I'm worried that our van will be large and we will be overshadowed by the busses and I'm wondering if my husband, who will be driving, will even get to focus on the scenery. I also wonder if we will have a hard time parking if we stop along the way? I have been trying to look at bus tours for the day and wondering if anyone has a recommendation? Am I right to think maybe we should try to park and take a tour instead of doing it ourselves?

I'm not sure what you mean by being overshadowed by the large tour buses. If anything, being in a larger vehicle yourself should make viewing a little easier than in a small passenger car. As for whether the driver will see anything, that's different. I suspect he will be pretty focused on the road, not the scenery (at least I would hope so as a passenger). You won't have any difficulty parking in the primary view spots since the tour buses also park there. But you would run into trouble at the more impromptu spots and if you are off the main Ring of Kerry road. I'm afraid I do not have any recommendations for private drivers or tours.
