RIng of Kerry & Dingle

I am planning a trip to Ireland and have a couple of questions. I plan to drive from Dublin to Portmagee stopping at Rock of Cashel on the way. I’d love some advice on this plan. Is it doable?

Another question-If I stay in Portrush for three nights, will I have easy access to Dingle Town and peninsula? Reason for staying in Portrush is to try to take trip out to Skellig Michael one day.

Any advice would be appreciated.

It's doable but a LONG drive. Portmagee is a great, very small town for getting the boat rides to Skellig. It is also central to a huge number of really great things to see in the surrounding area. The town itself though is VERY small and beyond a couple pub/restaurants and a shop or two. In and of itself there isn't a ton to do....in the surrounds there is a ton. As for Dingle access that is a long drive. If you really want to do both Dingle and the ROK I'd go with something more convenient to access both like Castlemaine or Kilglorin.....that are.

From Castlemaine (area) it's not far to Slea Head or Portmagee ......So it's easier logistically....but if you want to be immersed in small town Ireland in an area ......if not the town itself then Portmagee is a good option. Driving Portmagee to Dingle peninsula and back is a major time commitment and a very long day.

Am assuming that you mean Portmagee rather than Portrush which is in Northern Ireland.
Staying further up the road from Portmagee, in the vicinity of Glenbeigh or Castlemaine for example, would allow you to explore both the ROK and the Dingle peninsula from a single base rather than having to relocate every other day. Portmagee would still be a relatively short drive away, along with the other attractions in the vicinity (Skellig Ring, Kerry Cliffs, Gap of Dunloe, etc).
Driving all the way thru from Dublin to Portmagee would make for a long and tiring day - better to split it up with an enroute stop IMHO.
