Rick Steves tour of Dingle Peninsula vs. the Sciuird Archaeology Tour

We are going on the Rick Steves - Best of Ireland in 14 Days tour in September. We have heard quite a bit about taking the Sciuird Archaeology Tour during our free time in Dingle, but be are concerned that it will replicate much of what we might see during the Dingle Peninsula portion of the RST BoI-14D tour? Has anyone been on both of these tours of that area or know enough about either to compare the two for us. There are many nice things to do in Dingle, so we don't want to "waste" a morning or afternoon on the Sciuird Tour, if we are going to see/hear the same thing from our local guide on the RST tour when we are in that area.

I just got back from the Best of Ireland 14 day tour. Our tour group did the Slea Head Drive tour with Tim Collins who I believe also does the Sciuird Archeology tour. I don't know if he always does the Slea Head Drive tour with the Rick Steves group or not. We had Rick Steves himself on our tour so it could have been by special request. I suggest contacting the RS tour office to ask.

Rebecca,

Thanks for the quick reply. Very useful information. It must have been very interesting to have Rick on your BoI-14D Tour. It is Tim Collins (or his son) that run the Sciuird Archaeology Tour, from everything I have read.

We did the Heart of Ireland trip last year and Tim Collins was our guide for the Slea Head Drive. We had also done the Sciuird Tour before when we were there on our own and Tim was the guide then also. I don't think you need to do both and would just do the one with the RS tour. We are doing the best of Ireland tour in Sept. also. Which one are you on.

Thanks for the advise. We will take that into account when planning our extra time in Dingle

Greetings from Dingle, you definitely don't need to do both. The Sciuird tour is excellent but you will cover 80% of the same sites on that and the tour you will do with us (led by Tim Collins of Sciurid tours) on your Best of Ireland tour.
Looking forward to welcoming you to our Motherland :)

Stephen,

Thanks for the details. We hope we have the opportunity to meet you during our tour in later September.

The Slea Head Drive with Tim Collins is all you need. It's gorgeous all the way to Blasket Centre, and Tim's narrating and historical view were wonderful.

I am also interested in this tour. What's the best way to book this? I sent an email and got a reply back from Eileen? Who quoted me a Price for the tour with breakfast, but Mayb there was some confusion. Mayb she was thinking we would be staying at the B&B. I was only interested in the tour and read in RS book that there is a 10 and 2 tour. She did not mention this.
