Republic of Ireland -- feasible to "wing it" for 2 weeks in Sept?

I'll be in Ireland from Aug 30-Sept 14/15. Dublin is the start and end location. Will not visit N. Ireland.

My question: at this time of the year (first two weeks of Sept), it is feasible to "wing it" and not make a definite itinerary or lodging reservations prior to the trip? We'd like to leave it open, but I'm a little concerned about finding lodging. What do y'all think? :-)
Thanks!

You should be able to wing it just fine. I would recommend booking your Dublin accommodations (at least for your arrival) as it can take a little work to find reasonably priced in good location.

Outside of Dublin, you should be able to find B&Bs as you go for the night.

My wife and I will be visiting the west coast during the first two weeks of September. We booked most of our hotels and B&B's back in February. This past week we thought about some minor changes to our itinerary and started looking at moving a few current lodging dates as well as adding a few new stops. However, after finding limited or no availability during those weeks we decide to stick with our original plan.

Good luck

Greetings from Ireland. As we say here, you'll be grand. Do try and do some research of course, and learn a little of our history and culture before you arrive, but you definitely can wing it.
It is not the ideal way to travel for most people but it certainly sounds like you'll have an adventure!
If you have any questions while you're winging it, pop me an email.

I live in Ireland, and like Stephen above I say "wing it!"

I can't imagine any place being 100% full unless there is a festival in that particular village. I'm going north to Achill Island that same week, and slowly driving back down to Kerry. I've made no reservations and don't expect any issues finding accommodation!

If anyone is reading this thinking of winging it late October, November, my answer might be different!
