I turn 76 just before our 3 week driving trip around Ireland and North Ireland this fall. I am quite alert and have driven all over the world. I hear different stories on renting to people over 75. Supposedly Hertz requires a statement from your insurance agent that you have not been in an accident for 5 years and a doctor's statement saying you "are in good health". I have been talking to Dollar rent a car and quizzed them closely on their rental to people of various ages. While they deny rental to some people under 23 they say that there is no top age limit. I really would like to hear from someone who has been through this and how it turned out. The last thing I want is to be at a car rental counter in Dublin and be denied a car. For piece of mind I intend to get the "super CDW" All suggestions welcomed.
Our contacts at Elizabeth Holmes Travel Agency told us this year that they usually are able to search and find car rental options for seniors, so it sounds reasonable to take Dollar at their word, but I haven't heard any traveler feedback.
