Rental Car Rates in Ireland

We are attempting to book a rental car in Ireland for September. For a two week rental (big enough for 4 people and 2 golf bags), we are getting quotes of $10,000!! Anyone else having issues like this?

plus what you would need to rent to accommodate all that, while it might seem typical in the US, is very large for Europa

I would be inclined to rent clubs rather than bringing them and save on how big a vehicle is needed.

Sounds horrid, but given the state of car production and the European slant toward using smaller cars, not totally shocking.

The lack of rental cars and the soaring prices was on the French TV news last night.

Have you considered two smaller vehicles? We had a four-door Ford Focus last month in the UK, which easily accommodated 2 carryon suitcases, 2 small backpacks, and my husband’s golf bag. It was small enough to navigate through some tight places in small villages.

i got a rental with Budget- 9 days for $1800. i needed an automatic transmission so i had to pay more but that was the best deal i found. But it's not a big car just a compact.

I’ve reserved an 11 day rental for late August/early September, picking up and dropping off at the Dublin airport. There are 4 of us, each with a carryon bags and backpack personal bags and I rented an automatic Compact SUV such as a Toyota RAV4 through Sixt at AutoEurope. With zero deductible insurance it came to $2,973.64. I keep checking to see if the price has gone down, but in fact it’s a bit higher now. Automatics are limited so I suggest you reserve ASAP.

I live in Howth Ireland (but normally from Seattle) and don't have a car. We had guests last weekend and tried to rent a car and the prices was about €220 per day, which was crazy!! We ended up using Yuko, an hourly rental option which for 3 days ended up being €340 which included gas, insurance and extra cost per kilometer (you get 150k free) as we went to Galway, Doolin, Burren, etc. It was a much better option, and the cars are all automatic.
