Rental car: Holiday Autos and Booking.com - recent experience?

Hello

Months ago, I booked two rental cars from rental consolidators Booking.com (car supplied by Carhire) and Holiday Autos (car supplied by Sixt). They are both for similar cars for the same rental period. I was shopping around. I now need to cancel one of them.

With all the uncertainty around travel, I am looking for recent experience with picking up rentals that were done via Booking.com or Holiday Autos.

If it matters, pickup is at Dublin airport and drop off is at Shannon airport.

TIA

BTW - I thought it was highway robbery when I made the reservation back in March. Now these rentals look like the bargain of the year as the prices have gone up almost 4X from when I rented.

I got burned a few years ago by SixT as they had a "non-cancelable/changeable" clause buried deep in their terms & conditions. I wanted to move my pickup time by 24 hours (shorter rental) and it was cheaper to eat the two week cost than pay the change fee. Hopefully they dumped that clause or bookings.com forced it out.

The price of rentals has me thinking of buying a good used car and reselling it after three weeks. Some clever person should create a "car share" system where you book a specific car via a scheduled purchase. If I thought I would spend more than a few weeks every few years, I'd buy something and store it.

Regarding Car Share-- I would probably opt in to thing like that if it existed in Ireland. As it is, I thought the rentals and drivers were quite high, as the gas prices are too. Planning to bus Belfast to Sligo and Sligo to Galway/Doolin. Probably less scenic than the route I'd have chosen but cat napping is much easier when you aren't driving too.
And here's an article from June 10 on the car hire costs in Ireland from a sometimes reliable online Irish news source (can be sketch at times) https://www.independent.ie/life/motoring/car-news/price-gouging-will-kill-the-tourism-industry-woman-saves-1500-on-car-hire-costs-by-hiring-from-the-north-41738870.html?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=seeding&fbclid=IwAR3uwJwasUoaK4FhCi8bCTuL2NMgSjER9oNWRVwTM_WYCpwAMfMbrHzQNvY
