Rental car age limit

I have reviewed regulations on a number of rental sites. Some are not clear, and some are even self-contradictory e.g. driver must be under 75, or must be under 76.

Some sites mention a letter from your insurance company, and/or a letter from your doctor.

Does anyone have any clarity about the rules and regulations? Are they strictly enforced?

Each company will make its own rules, so I doubt anyone here can provide a one size fits all answer.

Best course is to contact the company( ies) that are unclear and have them clarify their policy

I would expect the rules to be enforced.
