We will be staying at the Harding Hotel for 2 nights in late May and then pick up a rent car for 12 day trip around the countryside. We have typically caught a bus, train or taxi out of town to pick up the car to avoid driving in large cities. Our first night stop in Kinsale. Is there somewhere that side of town to pick up car or are we better off returning to the airport to rent? I know in the States the rental car rates at the airport can be much higher than other locations. Just trying to look at all our options, Thank you!

Most rental is done at the Dublin airport. It can be very affordable if you book well in advance. Check out Aer Lingus Cars and Ryanair Car Hire.

I picked up my car at the airport. There is a ring road around Dublin so you don't have to go into the city--though there is a toll, of course.

We picked up our car in the city and it was a nightmare getting out of town. I would definitely go back to the airport.

Rent at the airport. No way you want to start your drive - or drive at all, really - in Dublin.
