Recommendations for restaurants in Ireland for someone with severe tree nut allergies?

Hi, all.

Our little family will be traveling to Ireland in July of 2024. We will be traveling around the island, but the primary starting point will be Dublin. One of the family members has severe tree nut allergies. I was wondering if anyone has restaurant recommendations and/or thoughts they can share? Thank you so much in advance!

I would explain your issues to the restaurants as you go. It depends on the severity of your relative's allergies -- do they just need to avoid dishes that include nuts as a major ingredient, or will they suffer potentially lethal anaphylaxis if they encounter a trace of nut?

Hi, Philip,

Thank you for your reply. Likelihood of anaphylactic reaction to tree nuts, specifically. It's uncertain what level of severity a trace amount would have, however when she was tested year ago, she did have a significant reaction to the standard allergy test. We have Epipens and travel with them. Yes, it makes sense simply to ask the restaurant in advance. I was just wondering if any other travelers who have visited had specific recommendations around restaurants. As an aside, when we visited London last summer, the restaurants were great. In fact, the servers and or mangers would ask if anyone dining had allergies as part of their protocol without us even inquiring.

Thank you again for sharing your thoughts. -André
