Recommendations for Dublin lodging

We are traveling to Dublin In May & would like some recommendations for good but reasonably priced lodging in the city. There were many in the Rick Steve's Ireland book but if anyone stayed at those or other good places would be interested in some thoughts on them or others.

We stayed at the Spencer last summer and really enjoyed it. The location was great. Could walk to so many things but the area was quiet. The breakfast was also delicious.

The Harding is a very reasonably-price hotel, and in an excellent area...well within walking distance to the major sites. It's not posh, but it's clean, comfortable, and the people are VERY friendly...plus breakfast is included at the adjacent restaurant. I wouldn't hesitate to go back.

We stayed at Ariel House B&B in the quiet Ballsbridge neighborhood of Dublin. Great breakfast and just a short Dart ride to the city.

We went to Ireland in October 2013 and stayed at Staunton's on the Green in Dublin. I would definitely recommend it. It's on the south side of St. Stephen's Green, so it is very quiet at night but walking distance to lots of places of interest, pubs, and restaurants. Great location. Breakfast is included and was very good. We landed from a red eye from the east coast and arrived at Staunton's around 9 a.m., assuming our room would not be ready but hopeful we could drop our bags off. While our room wasn't ready, they invited us to enjoy breakfast (which shouldn't have been included on our arrival day), and by the time we were done, they'd finished preparing our room. The rates were very reasonable too, although this was 4.5 years ago now.

I'd be careful with recommedations from 2013 or even last year! There is plenty of press on the fact that Dublin has fewer hotel rooms, and thousands more tourists this year..... they are price gauging big time. Be sure you get parking and everything else very clear before you buy. I personally don't believe there are many good bargains to be had!

We stayed at Pembroke Townhouse in Ballsbridge. Quiet neighborhood. Reasonable rates. Walk to all the sights. Searsons is a good pub/restaurant nearby.
