Hello, we will be traveling from the US to Ireland for a 7-day vacation in November (during US Thanksgiving week). We want to visit the West, Northwest and Belfast before returning to fly out of DUB on the following Saturday morning. We arrive in DUB on Friday morning and will rent our car. We’ve stayed in Dublin 4 + days a few years ago so want to go out and start touring outside the city. And we want to be safe driving after a long-haul flight and unsure if it’s recommended to hit the road right after arrival.
We are looking for recommendations:
1. A place (apartment/BnB/cottage) to set up base in a town that has decent restaurants, groceries and pubs.
2. Thoughts on our wish list of visits:
• Glenniff Horeshoe
• Sligo
• Donegal County
• Donegal Town
• Dunfanaghy
• Giant’s Causeway
• Belfast: Castle and Christmas market
• Monaghan (nice to see, not a must see)
Any recommendations on reasonable driving distance on first day of arrival, places/lodging for base and if the wish list above is doable for 6 days. Much appreciated.
