Recent Hotel Stay Dublin & Belfast , The Winding Stair

Hi,

Would anyone have fairly recent experience with either The Mont or The Green or any other hotel in Dublin? Both those hotels have rooms available next month and I wanted to book soon. Has anyone tried The Winding Stair, also in Dublin for a meal?
Lastly any experience with The Flint in Belfast? I appreciate your response because often information for hotels can be old.

Thanks Kindly,
Sheila

The Winding Stair is my favorite Dublin restaurant! I would definitely go.

I’m not familiar with The Flint, but I had a wonderful visit in March, staying at the Harrison Chambers of Distinction for four nights. And if you’re driving, there is parking onsite. It's a slightly quirky small hotel in a lovely area near Queen’s University. We’re looking forward to returning next year.

I was considering the Harrison Chambers. How far is the walk to the center of Belfast , we will not have a car. Thanks so much for your response.

Sheila, apologies for the late reply…we’re traveling and I haven’t “checked in” for a few days. Because a friend picked me up each morning, I never walked into the city center. I just checked Google maps, showing Belfast City Centre, and it looks like a 29 minute walk. You could also email Melanie, who is very responsive and could give you a better idea of options if you’re still interested. Looking at the directions, the walk takes you past Queen’s University, a beautiful place in itself. Hope this helps.

I stayed at The Flint in summer of 2023, so not very recent. Our room was a nice-sized studio apartment. The hotel was still under renovations at that time, and it looks like they’ve added a lot since our stay. They offered self-serve laundry (for free as I remember) which worked well for us. It was a neat old building, and we had a good stay with no issues. In terms of location it was very convenient to the bus drop-off from Dublin and also where our day tour coach bus met. Plenty of shops and restaurants around too.

Thanks very much for both responses regarding information on distance to city center & overall hotel experience. Harrison Chambers looks wonderful , since we are in Belfast the shortest days of the year we decided on proximity to places of interest and train station. The Flint looks very nice (2023 stay close enough) and Amelia Hall on the ground floor will be a convenient spot for breakfast.
If either of you can recall anything you especially enjoyed in Belfast on your visits please let me know. Barbara I noticed your thread on getting to Belfast from Dublin airport, we will be doing the same and will look at TransLink to book tickets. Did you walk to the Flint , it looks to be a short walk?

Sheila, we actually used Aircoach to go between the Dublin airport and Belfast, but Translink is certainly another option too. There’s also a third provider called Dublin Express. We easily walked between the Aircoach drop off (which I think was next to the Europa Hotel) and the Flint and as I remember it was five minutes or so to walk.
In Belfast we took a black cab tour and enjoyed it. We also visited the Titanic experience museum which, to me, was very well done and more impressive than I expected. The second day we took a day tour to the Giants Causeway (with a couple other stops) with PaddyWagon Tours and we were happy with that as well.

Thanks again, for sharing and it is likely we will visit the museum and explore Belfast thoroughly on foot.
