Rail and Sail from London to Ireland

We'll be travelling to England and Ireland this summer, landing in London and flying home from Dublin.
We want to take the train and ferry to Ireland to see more of the view than offered by flying.
I'm having troubles understanding the Rail and Sail websites and in particular the ticket prices.
The website I found advertising the Rail and Sale from London to Dublin states the ticket prices are £36 implying that includes both the train fare from London's Euston Station to Holyhead AND the ferry from Holyhead to Dublin port. However when I attempt to purchase tickets a much higher fare comes up (over £100)

Im also wondering if it would be possible to do the Rail and Sail from London to Rossiare and then on to Cork instead of going to Dublin and then heading south to Cork?

What is the Rail and Sail fare from London to either Dublin or Rossiare AND what is the best way to travel from London to Cork by train and ferry?

Hi,

i'm an American living in County Kerry. My husband worked in England for the last couple of years, so i took sail rail a great deal.

As for pricing, from Killarney to Dublin to Holyhead to York was about 77 euros one way -- it would be more to London since trains in and out of London are higher UNLESS you go off peak! I often took 6 a.m. trains to save money!

The best website EVER for train travel all over europe is Seat61.com. A train fan started it as a hobby, and now its better than any commercial sites. I book my tickets on, say Virgin Trains, through his link to thank him for all his help. He gets a cut but prices are the same.

A few quick things to know about Irish Ferries: Ulysses is bigger & slower, and rarely is cancelled due to weather. Swift is faster but is canceled what to me seems like alot! I always take Ulysses and snooze on a sofa or chair. If you're into a few drinks on the ferry, upgrade 16 euros to first class - free drinks!

Also look into RyanAir. I flew RyanAir to London Stansted last week round trip for 20 euros, Flying next month to London Luten for 24. Yes, really!

Good luck!
Susan
