Quiet place in Southwest Ireland

My husband and I are over 60 and want to find a place we can enjoy the scenery away from the crowd. Any suggestions for hotels, parts of the country? Cork or southern Galway? Thanks!

Will you have a car or be dependent on public transport? When are you going?

If you'll have a car I can suggest the Beara Peninsula in co. Cork. It's VERY scenic, no maddening crowds, and there's a lot of stuff to see and do. The town of Eyeries is a beautiful, brightly-colored little village.....definitely NOT a mecca for hoards of coach tours. Things to see on the peninsula include the Healy Pass, Gleninchaquin Park, the Reenroe sea arches in Allihies, the Dursey Island cable car....it goes on and on.

If you're looking for quiet and scenic, this would fit the bill.
