Hello
My husband and I are looking for a quiet place to sleep in Dublin for 2 nights August 30 th to September 1st. I am looking at Number31 hotel in Dublin. But, we would appreciate any advice on that and other places to sleep. We have never been to Ireland so any info on Dublin would be great. We are retired and not looking for the night life lol ! We are hoping to hear some traditional Irish music. We were wondering if a visit to the Irish National Irish stud Farm is close to Dublin to considered visiting. Thank you in advance
Val.
I'm not familiar with Number 31 but it's close to a hotel I have stayed at, The Wilder. It's a mixed offices and residential neighborhood with nearby restaurants and bars but not noisy or irksome. I have never been to the National Stud but Google Maps indicates it's about an hour a way by car and two hours and 3 buses by public transit. Two nights in Dublin only gives you one full day so perhaps your time would be better spent in Dublin.
Dublin to the National Stud is one bus a few times a day (see the timings for the Japanese Garden)
My advice would be train from Heuston to Kildare then taxi for the last two or three miles.
The train ride is between 30 and 50 minutes with at least two trains per hour.
Not sure of your timeline for needing to make reservations but I happen to be staying at Number31 next week for three nights. I have not been previously. I'll let you know what I think.
A quiet, comfortable bed and breakfast is Ariel House in the Ballsbridge District of Dublin: www.arielhouse.ie. In July 1993, I stayed there and still remember it. Ariel is a 20-minute walk to the city center, but there's a stop for the Dublin Area Rapid Transit (DART) on Lansdowne Road near the B&B. It's easy to learn the DART system. There are other great B&Bs in Ballsbridge and Donnybrook.
Hello
Thank you very much !
Count my wife and I as big fans of Ariel House as well.
