Quick Ireland Trip

We have a short itinerary and would love comments.

Day 1: Fly from London to Cork. Drive to Kinsale. Sleep Kinsale
Day 2: Drive Kinsale to Dingle, stopping in Killarney (?) for lunch. Sleep Dingle.
Day 3: Explore Dingle/Slea. Sleep Dingle
Day 4: Drive to Dublin. Stop along the way for lunch (Adare?). Sleep Dublin.
Day 5: Dublin. Sleep Dublin
Day 6: Fly Dublin to Brussels

We can add one more night, either a 2nd night in Kinsale or somewhere between Dingle and Dublin. Advice?

That’s a lot of driving in a short amount of time which means you’re not seeing much but what’s outside the car window……. which isn’t much on the highways.

I agree with Margie. That's a lot of driving for a quick trip, but it's your trip.

One idea is to arrange to drop the car at Shannon Int'l Airport and fly from there to Dublin. That would knock a lot of driving off your schedule, though you wouldn't see a lot of the countryside. I have flown from Shannon to Dublin or vice-versa three times; it's about a 45-minute trip.

A related idea is to drop the car in Limerick and take the train to Dublin. That way, you would still see the countryside.

Another idea is to stay in only the West of Ireland or only the East of Ireland. If you stay only the West, you would remove Dublin from your itinerary; you would be free to rejigger your trip and explore more in that region. And if you stay in only the East, you would fly into Dublin and rejigger your trip to see more there.

Addenda to my previous post:

If you cannot drop the car at Shannon Int'l Airport, you can drop it in Limerick. There are buses between Limerick and Shannon roughly every half hour.

The flight between Shannon and Dublin is 30 minutes.

I really don’t know what your interests are but you only have 6 days, two of which are getting there and leaving, I would decide which small area of Ireland is of the greatest interest to you and spend my 4 days there. You include Dingle. There’s lots of amazing things see and do in that area, stay there. But it’s your trip….

There are direct flights from London to Shannon. Maybe the better use of your limited time would be to do that - ie rent a car upon arrival for explorations of the West of Ireland, then drop the car back at Shannon for your ongoing flight to Brussels.
There's plenty to see and do in Dingle and Kerry to keep you busy for a few days.
