Question on Gap of Dunloe tours

Hello All. We are driving very early from Kinsale to Killarney and thinking of doing one of the tours offered to visit the Gap of Dunloe. We meet at 10:30 than do the hike from the cottage, than boat ride and finish at Ross castle. I had two questions, first how long these tours typically take and second, will we be able to make it to Kenmare for our overnight stay after the tour.

Thanks for all your help.

It's about a 2 hour drive from Kinsale to Killarney and maybe 20 minutes more to the Gap. Since you'll have a car I suggest skipping the tour and visiting the Gap of Dunloe on your own - spending as much time there as the spirit moves you either walking up to the head of the glen and back or taking one of the pony traps, then backtracking into Killarney to visit the NationalPark, maybe to include the very pretty walk out to a picturesque spot called the Meeting of the Waters ... maybe a 30 minute leisurely stroll from Muckross House. All you'd miss is the boat ride across the lake which is, after all, just a boat ride across a lake. That'll give you plenty of time to explore the area at your own pace, and without being tied to a fixed schedule.
It's only about 45 minutes by car to Kenmare so you'll be there in plenty of time for a pint before dinner.

Thankyou for a detailed reply. I think we are going to go with your idea. Will we be able to stop at ladies view and molls gap enroute to Kenmare because next day we are doing ROK or will we run short on time? Thanks.

They're both right on the N71 heading south towards Kenmare from Killarney.
