Question about the RS Best of Ireland in 14 days Tour.

We are going on this tour next month, and when reading the itinerary, it states that "we'll stop at KG and learn about its place in Ireland's struggle for independence....." I am probably worrying unnecessarily, but can anyone confirm that we do the actual tour, or do we just visit the free museum there?

Thanks!

I was just there last week and can’t imagine that exclusively visiting the museum, without a tour, is even an option. The context wouldn’t be present to fully appreciate the museum.

When we did this tour several years ago, we had a local guide but you might check with the RS Tour office, they will be able to tell you about your specific tour.
I might add, this is a terrific tour, high on my list of favorites. Our guide was passionate about his country’s history and the music. Great memories!

We were on that 14 day tour last week. We visited Kilmainham Gaol. Our bus parked out front, and a tour guide from KG led us on a complete tour around the place. Very interesting.

When I was on this tour and we 'stopped' at Kilmainham Gaol we got both a tour & time for the museum. It was fascinating and I enjoyed both. Be sure to read some of the letters to their families from the Irish patriots who were shot by firing squad.

JMU. you will have a fantastic trip. You may likely have a tour guide named Lynn, she was excellent!

We got the full gaol tour plus museum time when I did this several years ago, on the 14-day RS tour. The whole tour was great.

I'm doing this tour in July - do folks take or need hiking poles? I'm 71, and not always steady in rugged walks. But if I bring my poles, Aer Lingus won't allow in my carry-on. Thoughts?
