We will be traveling with our grandchildren (12&13) to Ireland in July. Are there restrictions regarding children in the pubs? Thanks.
Mary Lou, as I recall it is generally when the music starts, typically 9-9:30. I don't know if there is a hard and fast rule, others will perhaps chime in too.
If you are thinking of the Republic of Ireland, then children aren't permitted to remain after 9pm, with an extension allowed to 10pm during May to September. There should be a sign to this effect on clear display. The manager can decide to prohibit children if he/she wishes.
Northern Ireland allows a child in the bar area but not at the bar until 9pm providing the pub has a children's certificate. There is no extension in the summer, and no admittance at all inside of pubs without a certificate.
Thank you, Marco and Dave. We will be in the Republic. We will watch for the signage and/or inquire of the management.
