HI - I'm going to Ireland - not driving.
I want to see both Glendalough and Powerscourt, but all the tours I see don't seem to give you enough time at one or both. Also -- I want to take the Wild Wicklow tour which only goes to Glendalough. Can't find any tour that goes only to Powerscourt, and all the rest would be redundant to Glendalough. But I figured out that there is a Dublin Bus line that goes Dublin to Enniskerry. Then it's a 28 minute walk to Powerscourt -- no big deal. Has anyone done this? It's probably fine, but sight-unseen, I don't want to get to Enniskerry only to find out some reason that I can't get on to Powerscourt. Thanks in advance --I love this forum--it never lets me down.
Not sure if I can post links here, but Viator has one. http://www.viator.com/tours/Dublin/Wicklow-Powerscourt-and-Glendalough-Tour-from-Dublin/d503-24779P1. It's the Wicklow, Powerscourt and Glendalough Tour from Dublin.
We did that exact trip to Powerscourt. The 25-30 minute walk was not difficult, though slightly uphill. Make sure you bring an umbrella with you, we ended up having to use ours for the walk. If memory serves me correctly, the bus ran about 1X an hour for our return to Dublin. Check out the bus schedule so that you can adequately plan out your time. Enjoy the estate, it was lovely.
Why not take the public bus to Enniskerry and rent a bike... https://www.enniskerrybikehire.ie many people do.
For Glendalough check out St. Kevin's Bus.. http://www.glendaloughbus.com/timetable.aspx
Hi Theresa,
I lived in Enniskerry for several years, and frequently took the bus in and out. There are two easy options- the 44 direct from Dublin city center to Enniskerry, or the 185 from Bray to Enniskerry. You can get to Bray by bus (145) or the DART (regional train). Dublin Bus has a helpful website for planning your trip. Once you are in the village, it is very easy to walk to Powerscourt, and on a nice day it is actually a lovely walk. Many locals do it as their evening stroll! Hope this helps.

Thank you all! Theresa
