Public transit from Phoenix Park/Castleknock Area

Hello,
Our family of 5 will be traveling for the first time into Dublin soon and I would love any tips you have for public transit usage since we will not be renting a car. We will be staying in Castleknock area, NW of Phoenix Park as our home base and plan to adventure out from there (Dublin, Wicklow, Howth and eventually Cork Co). Thank you for sharing any info that could help some newbie travelers!

For these purposes I will assume you are staying at the Travelodge, but adjust this using Google maps if it is somewhere else in the area.

There are the frequent Dublin Bus services #38 and #39 into the City Centre.

From the Travelodge you would use the Western Commuter train from Navan Road Parkway station into Dublin Connolloy or Docklands Station, change at Connolly for the very frequent DART to Howth; also the South Eastern Commuter/Rosslare line trains to Wicklow, or the hourly coach-bus #133 from the Busaras (next to Connolly station)- takes 1 3/4 hours.

To Cork take the LUAS tram from Connolly or Docklands to Heuston for the hourly Inter City train to Cork.

For Docklands station use Spencer Dock stop on the LUAS

Castleknock may be the better station depending where you are staying. Or if staying closer to Phoenix Park Ashtown station- all on the same line.
