Private multi day tour guides or companies in Ireland

Does anyone have recommendations for private tour guides or private tour guide companies for 2 people for a 10-12 day tour of Ireland? I think a friend would do better with a private tour guide rather then on their own or joining a tour with a group of people. I found some recommendations in the forum on trip advisor but thought I would ask here. Thanks

If your friends need a driver more than a tour guide, I can recommend someone who can serve as a private driver and then also 'sort of' act as a tour guide for the western and southern part of Ireland.

If your friends need someone who is totally knowledgeable about every sight they might see and prepared to talk extensively about everything in every city and handle all admissions, hotels, meals for them in sort of turn-key tour manner, then the person I have in mind might not be the best match.

Are you looking for a formal tour?

Margaret: My husband and I are looking for a driver you describe. Can you provide contact information for me? Thank you for any help you can offer.

Tony McGann, based in Doolin, is a fabulous a driver, and he also served as sort-of a tour guide....not in the traditional sense of a tour guide, but he shared a lot of info with us along the way. He was kind, punctual, took care of his own overnight/meal expenses, etc.

He picked us up at the Shannon airport, took us thru Adare, to the Rock of Cashel, then on to Kinsale for some touring and overnight. The next day we hugged the coast to Dingle, Caha (sp?) Pass, Connor's Pass, Kenmare, then up to Dromoland Castle for two overnights (we didn't need a driver for a full day, so he handled other clients on that day). Then he picked us up, took us thru Ennis and then dropped us off at the Cliffs of Moher (while he took our luggage to the B&B), then he later picked us up when we had an employee at the Cliffs telephone him (everyone knows him), to take us to the b&b. The next day he picked us up, took us through The Burren, on to Galway for time on Key Street, then up thru the Connemara region (lovely drive) and a drop off at Ashford Castle for a two-night stay.

He was like family to us, and he was very attuned to what we liked....and he had little surprises for us that delighted us along the way.

We were glad to have a local driving. Road signage can be a bit confusing, and the roads are narrow. And, we never had to worry about parking.....Tony just magically appeared when we were finished visiting a site. His vehicle is roomy and clean, and he had chilled bottled water for us each day. He handled all fuel, parking fees, and road tolls.
