Easy drive to do on your own. I did it alone with my 2 kids in the car. We enjoyed Derrynane, the home of Daniel O’Connell, also my kids loved Kissane Sheep Farm where we watched the sheepdogs do their thing. A beautiful drive, however, we had some less than ideal weather, so the wipers got a workout.

We had to cancel our scheduled Ring/Kerry tour with Mr. Brown (due to illness), but he gets excellent reviews. Your inquiry will probably generate some replies based on personal experience. You might also look at his reviews on TripAdvisor.

We hired Gerard Scott at Killarney Guided Tours on two different occasions. He's based in Killarney, so knows the area well. He could also tour you around the Dingle Peninsula (though you'd probably want two days for both the ROK and Dingle).

Then, spend a day in Killarney National Park. Muckross House and its gardens are lovely, and there are lots of hiking options. Wildflowers will be blooming in May.
Also consider visiting the ruins of Muckross Abbey; Ross Castle (just outside town) has really interesting guided tours; boat tours on the lakes are also interesting.

Anyone who gives you a guided tour will know all the must-see stops along the way.

Have fun!

I just returned from a week in Cork County. Our tour guide was wonderful. Deidre H. with Tours by Locals. Look for her under the Dingle/Slea Head tours listed on their site. She has lots of experience and so many stories to share. She took us to many places we would not have found on our own. We booked her for 3 days. Day one we explored Kinsale, Cobh (the Heritage Museum) and the forts along the harbor. Day two was a long day witha drive to Killarney and part of the National Park. Our most memorable day was spent at Blarney Castle. Without the summer crowds it was magical. Deidre guided us through the castle and surrounding gardens, waterfalls and caves. Each day she was flexible and gave us options based on the weather, our interest and the activity level we wanted. Highly recommend her.

Paul Brown is really great. He has an excellent van for viewing, an insiders knowledge of Kerry, and a great personality. Obviously I highly recommend him. Paul picked us up at our B&B in Kenmore. We had viewed a few of the favorite spots prior to our tour and Paul worked our tour around so we didn't visit the places we had already visited.
