Pre Booking Dublin Activities

Saw mention of purchasing tickets to Kilmainhaim Gaol is online only?
Is this true? What if you have a Heritage Card?

Any other sites that should be pre-booked?
We will be in Dublin mid September.
Thank you!

I was in Dublin 2 years ago, late August. Kilmainhaim tickets sold out around noon on the day I went and that was before they began selling online advance bookings. It's a schlep to get there, so I'd definitely buy online even if you can buy onsite. If you go early and don't get the next available tour, you may have to hang around for hours waiting.

Things I booked a few days in advance: The Dublin Literary Pub Crawl, plays at the Abbey and the Gateway. All were excellent. The rake at the Abbey is very steep, so every seat has a good view.

I also booked a folklore evening at the Brazenhead that was a waste of time and money.

We pre-booked our Gaol tour on-line using our Heritage Card. You just indicate you have the card and they just ask you to present it when you arrive for the tour. Easy.

If you can purchase tickets ahead for Kilmainham Gaol I would definitely do that. I was there as part of a tour so I didn't have to worry about getting tickets, but there were a lot of unhappy people trying to get in the day I was there. I really enjoyed my visit.

I also pre-booked the Brazen Head folklore dinner. I did not think it was a waste of time nor money. I had a great evening. But before you consider it I suggest reading about it. The description and reviews on the website are accurate. If you don't want to spend an evening listening to one person telling old Irish stories, you won't like it.

Thank you so much and for comments about Brazenhead too as that sounds great to us.
