Post tour plan

I've written before on wanting ideas for post tour plans to our Best of Ireland 14 Day tour. We are coming early to Dublin and spending an extra night in Belfast. I don't need more museums and castles, etc to look at. What I'd like to hear about from you is, where could we spend 3 or 4 nights in a quaint, small, uncrowded Irish Village? The typical kind of Irish village most of us Americans visualize but without all the tourists. Appreciate your input:)

Although two years old this article touches upon the sad reality that rural Ireland and the small villages are in decline for a number of reasons.

Now will you have a car for the post Best of Ireland trip or will you be relying on public transport?

For me places like Carlingford, Sneem or Bantry partially meet your criteria but an automobile will be needed. I use the adjective partially as you might see another yank or two or three depending on your travel dates. In November of last year I nearly had Dingle to myself. Don't imagine that's the case during Summer months or high season.

Thanks, Claudia. We plan on renting a car. We'll be driving from Dublin. We've narrowed it down to three areas: Aran Islands, Achill Island, or Ring of Kerry-Portmagee and Skellig Michael. We think nothing of a 235 mile drive in the states but think it will be too much to make that distance to Portmagee if we only have 4 days of travel-two days consumed with driving to and from Dublin where we fly out. Just can't get it all in one trip!!😉

Hello,
Stayed 1 night at this cute hotel called The Gougane Barra Hotel . Wish we had stayed longer. Beautiful area with a little lake and a forest with walking trails. They hotel was cute, best food that we had in Ireland. The city of Cork was about 30 minutes away, I think. I would double check that.

Also liked the city of Kenmare. Stayed at The Coachmans Inn. Wonderful music in the pub. A stone circle there too. Only stayed here 1 night, wished it was longer.
Enjoy your Irish Adventure.
