Portamagee via Cork

Greetings,
I am looking for a way to get from Dublin to Portamagee. I have a last minute trip in September and plan to fly in and out of Dublin ( have never been to Dublin). I was happy to learn it will be possible to get a boat to Skellig Michel, but we do not want to rent a car.
I know I can take a train to Cork which is fine with me! How can I get to Portamagee from Cork if I do not want to rent a car?
Many Thanks,
Sheila

The Rome2Rio site shows three options, all of which take about 5-6 hours one way.

You can also go by bus all the way from Dublin, by way of Killarney. You have to change in Killarney and it looks like the two legs use two different bus stations, but others who've done it or live locally may be able to advise you further.

In either case, note that the last portion of the Portmagee leg only runs 6 times a week (probably not running Sundays and only once a day), so you might need a taxi from Cahersiveen.
