places to stay in Dublin not far from St. Stephens Green/Grafton

Looking for reasonable places to stay for 2 nights for 4 adults. Not renting our car until after our 2 nights. Have looked at many apartments or hotels and it's overwhelming.
Thanks for any suggestions!

We stayed outside the city center, so I won’t mention that place. I have read lots of recommendations for city center hotels on the forum, however. I suggest you go to the search bar and type in Dublin hotel, then read comments.

I know the Merrion hotel is very nice, and great location, but might be more than you want to spend.

We stayed at the Pembroke Townhouse in Ballsbridge. Across the street from the US Embassy. Pretty reasonable for Dublin. A healthful walk to the center of town. Searson’s is a good place to eat and drink.

We stayed at the Harcourt Hotel in Harcourt St., about 5 minutes' walk from St. Stephens Green and Grafton St. It was reasonably priced, clean, attractive, with helpful staff. The downside was overnight noise from half a dozen nightclubs on the block -- even though it is nowhere near Temple Bar and it looks like a quiet residential street in the daytime.

However, we were there on a Fri & Sat night in warm weather, so the drunken revelry was going on outside in the street whereas in colder weather or on non-weekend nights it's probably a different story.

We stayed at Staunton's on the Green, which is on the south side of St. Stephen's Green (the quieter side). I would highly recommend it. We arrived on a red eye from the East coast at the hotel around 9:00 a.m. We had hoped to just drop off our bags, but instead, they suggested we enjoy breakfast for free while they got the room ready. It was done by the time we finished eating. Breakfast (which was very good) is included in the room rate, but that was an extra meal for free, which we appreciated after being a bit tired. The room was a good size, and the location is tough to beat.

We stayed at Albany house. It’s right beside St. Stephens Green and 5 a minutes walk from Grafton street. Breakfast was included in the price. We took the bus from the airport and it dropped us off right at St. Stephens Green.

A second vote for Albany House! I stayed their with my parents when we were traveling in 2013, both when we arrived and prior to our departure after driving around Ireland. Lovely hotel. When we were there prior to leaving to come home we got upgraded to the large suite with 1.5 baths and a living room! Nice way to end the trip :)
