Places Near Dublin Airport

Hello, my family will be traveling to Ireland this October, and we will be flying out of Dublin. We will be driving from Kilkenny, and we will have two nights before departing back to the US. Our flight will be 11:30 a.m. in the morning on a Monday or Tuesday.

We are considering a stay at either Powerscourt or Clontarf Castle for the last two nights. We want to be under one hour to the airport if not closer. We will have to return our rental car at the airport too. We prefer to be outside of Dublin City Center too as we will be traveling with our 3-year old and 7-month old children. Do you recommend either Powerscourt, Clontarf, or another place?

We just spent the night at the Dublin Airport Hilton for $89--a bargain. It is a modern hotel with restaurants and shopping within walking distance. The Hilton is.about 4 miles from the airport and buses come by to take you into the center city. Rooms in the Dublin center city are as expensive as in more major European cities.
Out of all the other major European cities visited in the last 48 years, Dublin was our least favorite.
