Picking Up Car Rental at Dublin Airport- Logistical Question

Hello,

I'm hoping someone can help me. I'm looking for a walk-through of picking up my rental. We will be in Dublin for a few days, then heading back to the airport to pick up our rental. We rented through Dan Dooley/Enterprise. We plan on taking the Airlink 757 to get back to the airport. I understand that the agency has a rental desk in Terminal 1 and 2. I'm not sure if it matters which terminal we go to. Also, does the shuttle drop off in the departures area or arrivals area? It would make sense that the Airlink drops off at departures but the rental is at arrivals. Is it better to take a taxi to get to the rental agency? Thank you for your help.

This is a question best put to the folks at Enterprise in Dublin.
Though the rental car desk is located in Arrivals, the cars are located some distance from the airport proper ... across Swords Road if you look at a map of the airport complex. If you visit the desk in the terminal you'll just have to jump on a shuttle to get to the rental car lot to collect your vehicle. Point being that you might be able to save yourself a step (and some aggravation) by just proceeding directly to the kiosk at the rental car lot (via taxi), but do confirm with the provider that it's possible to do it that way.

Robert's hunch is right. The cars are all kept in a remote lot, so if you go to the terminal, you'll just have to take the shuttle out to the lot. Definitely possible, but you would absolutely save time and trouble by taking a taxi directly to the car rental lot. Tell the driver you want to go to the Dan Dooley lot. He should know what you mean. There's no need to stop at the desk in the terminal. They'll have your reservation info at the lot.

It should be about 30-35 euros for a taxi from Dublin center. A bit more expensive than the Airlink, but much more convenient, IMO.

Have fun!!!!

Thank you both. I have emailed them directly. My concern with going directly to the rental car facility is that often times, there is paperwork to be done beforehand in the arrivals area before you go to pick up the actual car. Hoping I get a clear answer. This seems to be a highly recommended way to rent a car in Ireland. Hoping for some firsthand reports of how others picked up their rental after being in Dublin for a few days. Thanks again.

There is a desk at the car pickup lot, attended by an agent. You’ll e able to do all your paperwork right there. No need to go to the arrivals hall first.

Another option: There is an Enterprise office in downtown Dublin. Very easy to get to and much less of a hassle than going to the airport. We were in and out in less than 15 minutes.
