Can anyone share their experience with the process of getting the required PCR testing [Dublin airport] before returning to the US? Return flight at 1300, staying in Shields the previous night after dropping rental car at the airport. Could get tested when we drop off the car late afternoon/early evening, but concerned about whether a "next-day" result will be available when we check-in 18 hours later. Can't seem to find any hard info on exactly what "next day" means...if we got the rapid [1-3 hour] test when dropping the car, would they hold the results until next morning, or is there an expectation [or requirement] that you will wait in the airport for those results? Feeling discouraged by the uncertainty with this. Any help based on actual experience will be appreciated.
No first hand experience in Dublin, but it seems that most labs I have heard of email the results to you, you don't wait around for them.
You do not need a PCR test to retrun to the USA. A simple antigen test will be fine. You must take it within one day of your flight. The results are emailed to you about 30-45 minutes later.
