As expected finding a hotel in Dublin in late July is proving difficult. Is the Parnell Square area too far north in the city and too far from most of the things people on a first time visit to Dublin would want to see? Or south near St, Stephen's Green?
It’s about a 30 minute walk from Trinity College. I’m not sure if you consider that far. It is on transit lines.
Only you know how far you walk. It is a 1/2 mile walk from around Parnell Square to the middle of the O'Connell St Bridge. Go to Google Maps and plug in locations of where you need to get to and see how much walking is involved. Note that when you plug in transit options you will often find that walking distances are involved.
We stayed on the south side of St. Stephen’s Green at Staunton’s on the Green in 2015 and really liked it. Took 10-15 minutes to walk to the Temple Bar area.
I definitely think of Parnell Square as being Central Dublin. And I'd be very suprised if it took you 30 minutes to Trinity College. More like 15. Plus O'Connell Street is a grand avenue, with the historic GPO and O'Connell Statue.
It’s definitely walkable and a really quintessential walk in Dublin. Parnell Square to the O’Connell Bridge is 6/10 mile. O’Connell Bridge to St.Stephen’s Green is 7/10 mile . Buses run down O’Connell Street if you need a lift.
