Has anyone used this service offered by the Stena Line and Virgin Trains? What are pros and cons? My understanding is that you can only book a cabin via telephone and if you don't have a UK address you must pick up tickets in advance at the ferry terminal. Am I understanding this information from The Man in Seat 61 correctly? Thank you.
I used the sailrail from Dublin to Holyhead, boarded a train there and onward to London to catch the Eurostar to Paris. Just be careful on times. The trains and ferries do NOT synchronize. So, be sure your train leaves at least 1 hour or more after your ferry arrives and visa/versa. I picked up my tickets at the ferry port. Just bring the cc you used to book the tickets to pick them up. If the man in seat 61 says it, it is gospel. He has never steered me wrong. If you have to book a cabin, and must call them, sign up for Skype and use it. It costs probably .01 cents per minute to talk.
Thanks John.
