Only ONE day in Belfast

Belfast looks AMAZING and worthy of at least a couple nights (we shall return!) but we are doing a mad dash...

We've booked a place that is wonderfully central for the night (near Lidl) and will be getting to town mid morning then flying out the next AM.

I'd love to know where you all have had good experiences on...

  • Lunch
  • A black cab tour
  • How long does Titanic Belfast require?
  • Dinner

Sincere thanks in advance!
Cheers from USA/Oregon

You could spend all day at the Titanic Museum but when we went we were on a RS Ireland tour and we were given a couple of hours to take it in on our own. That gave us a nice taste.

Also we took the black cab tour, and before we got in asked if he would be willing to drop us at the train station after, for a separate fee. You could ask the cab driver if he would take you to the titanic museum. As I recall the museum isn’t exactly central.

If you are there on a Saturday morning I would recommend to take your breakfast at St George's Market.

We (family with teenagers) did spend about 2 hours at the Titanic Museum and did not visit SS Nomadic. That’s fine to see it without catching every detail.

We did just a half day in Belfast on our way to Derry. Took the train from London. There was a nice bakery sale going on at the Belfast train station when we arrived! Did the Black Cab tour of sites related to the Troubles. Back on the train to Derry. After our Derry/Donegal trip, spent another half day in Belfast and toured the Titanic Museum and walked around downtown.

The highlight of my trip to Belfast was the Black Cab tour.

I did it on my departure day. After the tour, I was dropped off at the airport.

If I could pick only 1 thing to do in Belfast, it would be to visit the Titanic Museum. Unbelievable. From an experience standpoint, the Black Cab Tours are right up there as well.

You might want to check out the ulster museum near the botanical gardens. Walking around the queens university campus is also nice.

Thanks everyone.

The "internet" suggests 1.5 to 2.5 hours for Titanic Belfast and 1.5 hours for a black cab tour?

Sounds ideal!

We were there last week.

The Titanic Belfast museum is stellar. Timed-entry tickets are required, though they squeezed us in when we arrived early. Allow 2 hours from actual entry time. Also, they have darned good food on site at the museum. We did lunch there.

I cannot recommend Cab Tours Belfast highly enough. It's the only Black Taxi tour company owned jointly by Catholic & Protestant owners. Their drivers pledge to share both perspectives on your tour of the troubles. It was eye-opening to hear about it from someone who drives between the still-divided city every day. For a small extra fee they can pick you up or drop you off where you need if making it to their central city pickup point is not convenient.
