One Week In Ireland

For our trip next year, we had to make some last minute changes to the itinerary and won't be spending as much time as planned in Ireland. Does our updated itinerary seem doable? Since flights from Dublin to Amsterdam are cheap, we wanted to spend a couple days in Amsterdam before we headed home on Sunday.

Day 1 (Thursday): Fly to Dublin
Day 2 (Friday): Arrive in Dublin in the early morning
Day 3 (Saturday): Dublin
Day 4 (Sunday): Drive to Killarney (stop at Blarney Stone on the way)
Day 5 (Monday): Drive around the Ring of Kerry and stay the night in Dingle or back in Killarney
Day 6 (Tuesday): Drive to Galway
Day 7 (Wednesday): Stay in Galway
Day 8 (Thursday): Drive back to Dublin for the night
Day 9 (Friday): Fly to Amsterdam
Day 10 (Saturday): Amsterdam for the night
Day 11 (Sunday): Fly back to the US

I know this is a bit rushed, but overall does this seem doable?

You will get differing opinions on this but.. to me, this is way too rushed.

You really have 7 days on the ground in Ireland with day 1 ( the day you land) maybe being a write off after an overnight flight and jet lag.

Day 3 will be long and since you will drive the ring of kerry day 5, really gives you no time in Killarney. I know many on here are not fans of Killarney but we loved it. The national park was gorgeous.

Same with Dingle, Driving the ring of kerry and ending in Dingle and then leaving the next day for Galway, means you have no time to actually see Dingle.

If it were me, I would scrap the Amsterdam part and allot those days back to Ireland and plan a separate trip to Amsterdam

I agree with the other poster, this is far too rushed. You spend more time travelling from place to place than you do actually stopping to see things. I would also drop Amsterdam. If you haven't booked any flights yet then I would fly into Dublin, and out of Shannon (or vice versa). With only 7 days on the ground, and two of those are days you either arrive or leave from an airport, you don't really have enough time to fit Dublin/Killarney/Galway. You should drop one of these places and split your time between two locations. If you don't go to Amsterdam then you might be able to fit all three places in, but it would still be a rush. I spent four nights in each location, and still didn't see everything I wanted to. I know it's tempting to cover as much ground as you can, but you actually see more, enjoy more, if you spend more time in each place.

Amsterdam? I wouldn't even want to give up 2 days of a trip to Ireland by flying somewhere else for the night. If you're keen to visit Amsterdam, make that the focus of your trip. If you are flying Aer Lingus and want a brief stopover in Dublin, fine -- since you'll be on the ground in Dublin anyway -- but I don't see the sense of Amsterdam.
