One month and 4 flats in Ireland

My family and I are planning a month long trip to Ireland next summer. We will be traveling with 3 small kids (2, 5, and 7 years old), my parents and my husband and I. Since we have such small kids, we would rather get four weekly rentals and really explore an area with a home base and taking day trips versus packing up and traveling constantly.

Does anyone have any recommendations on where those 4 locations should be? We will have a rental car and would love to pick places where there would be a lot of opportunity to see many things. We will also have a rental car.

Thanks so much in advance!

Are you looking to cover the south and north?

I have never done the north ( on the list for next time) but we just spent 14 days in the south. If I had to pick for the south, I would pick Dublin (no need for a car), Killarney area (maybe kenmare), Dingle area and Galway area.

Sharon, we are open to either the South or North or both. Those are wonderful suggestions. Thanks so much!

if you are thinking northern Ireland, I bet your 5 & & 7 year olds would love Giants Causeway

if you are a "horsey" family, the National Stud is worth a day trip. It also had a Japanese garden with pagoda and a really cool reproduction of a stone hut that has a "flower garden" under glass in the floor that is all Waterford crystal.....I' don't know why they don't advertise those bits and much as the horses. again, lots of green space and picnic grounds for the little ones.
