One last night - need location help in Dublin

We are coming back on the train from Belfast to Dublin - hoping to catch one that arrives around 1pm. That means we come into Dublin Connelly. We want to catch one of the express busses that go right to the airport - we have to be walking into the airport the next morning at 10:15 (3 hours ahead). We are a couple in our mid-60s and we tend to walk where we need to go vs. just grab a taxi.

Recs for a moderate but nice 'last night in Dublin' hotel that splits the bill between Connolly (a neighborhood I don't think I want to stay in ) and anywhere near one of the air coach express bus stops (sorry, it's a puzzle to fit together because I can't quite figure this out and am hoping for recs from others who have done this and liked their choices). Our earlier stay is on the other side of the river but don't want to walk all the way back in there for 1 night.

Help me figure this puzzle that matches and decent/moderate housing stay for one night a bit away from Connolly and near an air coach stop!

Thanks and wishes for a happy and healthy new year with great traveling ahead.

One option would be to take the bus from Belfast to the airport, drop your bags at the one of the hotels there and take another bus (or cab) into the city center for the afternoon/evening. You wouldn't be so rushed in the morning.

thank you and we considered this but prefer to come into Dublin with an afternoon and evening ahead of us and then we'll get on the bus in the morning.

I’m going to Dublin next week and will be staying where most attractions are— south of the Liffey River.

You have good travel instincts to have figured out north of the river has some sketchy neighborhoods. Even O’Connell Street draws some rough characters at night. South of the Liffey, the area bordered by Trinity College and St.Stephen’s Green and Dublin Castle are just blocks from the National Archaeological Museum, the National Gallery, Leinster House and Grafton Street. This is a great area to stay as it’s close to mo
many of Dublin’s top attractions. The Guinness Stirehouse and Kilmainham Gaol are about one mile west of here. Express Airport Buses to DUB airport pick up at various stops near the river such as Merchants Quay and on Winetavern Street near the Christ Church Cathedral.
Cheers!

We just stayed at Stay City Dublin Little Mary Street -- It's only a block to the bridge into temple bar (12 minute walk) but on the "wrong" side of the Liffey.

We also walked to the Portal from the hotel for the novelty - it was definitely a little less touristy but I wasn't at all uncomfortable....Everything near Trinity was outrageously priced and everywhere we wanted to go was a close enough walk from Capel street/Little Mary. Several close pubs that we found acceptable for dinner and we hit M and S food hall for some snacks and breakfast.

It was a very small room but it is a new property, was clean and quiet despite being VERY busy.

The front desk was super helpful got us an early morning cab to Airport (5:30) that was around 35 Euro.....They had signs up for the shuttle bus and its closest stop but it 14 euro (?) PP so cab was cheaper for our group to cab it.

The front desk also arranged our cab to Kilmahain Goal...for a budget option hotel I was pleased with the customer service. that said, the rates at Christmas were VERY high you may have more options.

Air Coach are not the only company who run from Central Dublin to the airport. Dublin Express are another.

DE run from North Wall and the 3 Arena (near The Point LUAS stop), both in the former Docklands area- now totally redeveloped with several nice hotels and at least one Premier Inn in the area.
To get there take the LUAS from Connolly. In the other direction LUAS takes you into the heart of the City. The North Wall stop is close to The Epic and the adjacent Hilton.

We enjoyed the Harding hotel near Dublin Castle. A pub with music in the basement. Convenient location to walk to river and bus stops .
