Going to spend three days in Dublin. Enjoy seafood, would like recommendations away from tourists
Greetings from Dublin, the good news is there are hundreds of great choices that tourists don't know about or don't eat in those areas.
Firstly avoid anywhere in the Temple Bar area, I enjoy the area but the diners will be 95% tourists almost everywhere.
Rather than give you recommendations of restaurants, I'll suggest an area, go up Dawson Street and turn left and go in the direction of baggot street. That general area has some lovely eateries. I just finished dining in Marco Pierre Whites outdoor heated and covered patio before I typed this response ;)

We loved Matt The Thresher's restaurant! Great atmosphere, excellent sea food, and off the beaten path for sure. It is on Lower Pembroke Street; nice, quiet road. We got this recommendation from our concierge at The Buswell's Hotel, and they were spot on.
This is not off of the beaten path, but Cafe Kylemore, across from The Spire on O'Connell St. and beside the James Joyce statue, is a decent place to get breakfast for around 5 Euro per person. It is a type of cafeteria, so you can pick and choose what you want to eat. They also do lunch.
Also, from memory from 4 years ago, there was a wonderful Chinese restaurant -Lee's Charming Noodles on Parnell St. . It was run by two wonderful young ladies.
