We returned from Dublin October 29. We had a great time in spite of quite changeable weather. A day that starts out sunny can suddenly become rainy and windy. Dublin can be very windy, so be prepared. I had a good rain jacket but the wind kept blowing my hood off. Tying a scarf around my neck helped keep my hood up - most of the time. I recommend walking shoes that are non slip. Stone tiles and cobblestones are very slippery when wet. That said, when the sun comes out Dublin is lovely.
Take advantage of Dublin’s city parks. St.Stephen’s Green and Merrion Square are beautiful with points of historical interest. While some sites to see should be reserved ahead, we decided not to buy too many tickets ahead of time. That way if you wake up to bad weather, museums or cathedrals can be substituted for outdoor plans and vise versa. National Museums are free.
We also found it was easy to hail a taxi, unlike in other European cities.
A fun and friendly city!
