I am planning to stay at the Gate Hotel. Made reservation thru Bookings.com via the hotel website link. Can I believe the many good/great reviews I've read? Is the area safe? My experience in reviewing other recommended hotels in RS books shows about the same number of disgruntled customer reviews .

I haven’t stayed at that hotel but have stayed in the area. It’s fine. It’s not elegant and trendy and you may see some street people but I never felt threatened, didn’t worry about taking cash out of ATMs, etc. Just exercise the usual common sense you would use in any large urban area.
