In April my husband and I will be starting our Ireland trip in Dublin, then taking the train to Derry (ancestral home of the Irish branch of the family). Once in Derry, we want to get out to see either County Donegal or the Antrim Coast (not sure if we can do both at is only an eight day spring break trip; we are leaning toward Donegal). Are there recommendations for tours to sign up with to see these other areas? Since it is low season, I noticed on-line that many tours are operating on a very limited or not-at-all schedule, or you need ten people to get the tour to go. The plan was not to drive a rental car. Also, recommendations for lodging in Derry (City Hotel? Tower Hotel?)

should we assume from your question that you only want a guided tour-bus type trip round Donegal? Particularly in low season, you would be far better advised if you want to see things and get about in Donegal by hiring a car and self-driving. Public transport in Donegal is limited to very occasional buses, and there is no train (not counting the historic and short Finn Valley railway) in the county.
