Next stop after Galway

Will be starting our Ireland trip in Galway. Spending 3 days visiting cliffs of Moer, Aran Islands, Connemara, and local Galway sites. From there we will be heading to Killarney for 2 nights. I am looking for suggestions for a 1-2 night stop roughly half way between Galway and Killarney, and what we would do there. Thanks

Two words come immediately to mind: Doolin and Ennis. OK, that's three! Although both are a bit north of halfway, they're great stops for trad music in the pubs, good B&B choices and, especially in Doolin, scenery. Ennis is a larger, livlier town and offers more things to see and do. If you like beaches, the coastal town of Lahinch in Co. Clare may be your best bet. The central and southern parts of Clare are rather flat and don't offer much in the way of visual appreciation.

Suggest you consider a visit to the Burrren. A truly unique landscape, very beautiful and desolate. Depending on the time of your visit, the wild flowers growing in the cracks of the limestone are lovely. The Burren Perfumery is also an enjoyable stop.

Suggest you stay your three days in Galway area and then head south through Burren and then to Cliffs and then continue on south maybe stopping off in Shannon area to see Bunratty folk park, King Johns Castle and either stay in that area or maybe cute town on Adare. This is all on the way to your final stop. Our experience over the years of stopping in Doolin is that it is way over crowded during the day. We were last there again in October and had to wait twenty minutes for tour buses to unload during the day. If you want to stay there I would tour the area during the day and then stay in a B&B at night and walk to Gus O'Connors for trad music.
