new itinerary due to plane being cancelled at the last minute need B&B recommendations

I'm the one who was basically left stranded at JFK on Tuesday night because my flight was canceled right before we were supposed to board. All of my planning of B&B's & tours, ... down the toilet :(

Anyway, a few things ....
I'm trying to find a few places to stay as our original B&B's are booked with the new dates ... so any recommendations would be appreciated:
* a B&B in Galway (3 nights)
* a B&B in Dingle - right in the town (3 nights)
* a place to stay just for 1 night between Dingle and Dublin, yes I realize that a HUGE ask, but I'm under a time crunch!!
- someplace that is within walking distance to the train to Dublin. We're open to any place we can get to without a car.
(We originally had a cute place in Kinsale booked, but now we won't have enough time to get there and we only have 1 night).

I'm the type of person who likes to research places before I book, but with only 5 days to recreate our itinerary, I need all the recommendations you have!

These are places we’ve stayed on previous trips. Not certain what the availability would be, but I highly recommend them both.

Galway: Petra House B&B.

Ennis (in County Clare, South of Galway, northeast of Dingle): Glenomra House B&B. We stayed there just last month, during the Fleadh Nua music festival. Tell Mary “hi” from Cyn! We walked to/from the center of town, and I’d guess it would be 10-12 minute walk to the station from the B&B. We did have a car, but didn’t drive it into the center of town.

For what it’s worth, the past stay in Dingle involved a cottage with tiny kitchen, so not a B&B; and in Dublin it was an apartment smack downtown.

We stayed in the tiny town of Birr, by the castle, on our way back to Dublin from Dingle. But we had a car.

How are you getting to Dingle, and from there to Dublin, if you don’t have a car? Irish Rail does not serve Dingle.

It does serve Galway, so you could pick a place on the train line between Galway and Dublin. I can list those towns if you like ( not all of them are on the rail map).

We're taking the train from Dublin to Galway, .... and I was able to book a tour from Galway to Dingle with lots of fun stops along the way like the Cliffs of Moher, Doolin, The Burren Coast Road to Ballyvaughan and Kinvara Dunguire Castle to name a few. The driver/tour guide will drop us off at a B&B in Dingle - fingers crossed we find one with availability.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. Please keep them coming as most places I contact are already booked.

Milltown House in Dingle is fabulous. It's about a 12 minute walk from the center of town, but you are on the same bay looking at the center town. I recall they gave rides into the town center if you didn't want to walk. I'd call it's location the edge of town. It had a wonderful breakfast, and I believe a sister property next door. Hope this helps, in case you don't find exactly what you are looking for.

So sorry for your situation!

We will make our first trip to Ireland in August, but several of the accommodations we’ve chosen are from recommendations from family members and friends:

Galway - Harbour Hotel (right across from dock where ferry to Inishmore departs)

Dingle - Cill Bhreac House and Greenmount House (need to split our time since neither had availability for multiple nights)

Kinsale - Blindgate House

Dublin - Ashling Hotel (right across from Heuston Station)

Hope it all works out for you!

Thanks so much for all of the recommendations.
So far most of the places I've looked at are completely booked, but some of the places you mentioned weren't on my radar,
... so THANK YOU!

With your trip imminent, I'd hit booking.com. It has listings for B&Bs as well as hotels. It's worth checking every day, or even multiple times a day, as you might catch a cancellation.

At this point, chasing down people's recommendations for places they loved could waste a lot of time and yield a string of "Sorry, we're full" responses--as you have discovered.

We stayed at the Cill Bhreac in Dingle twice and the Lighthouse three times. Lighthouse is closer to town and is walkable although you would need a flash!ight if getting from town in the dark. Both places are great. In Kinsale we stayed at the White Lady hotel once. It was good but not as good as a B&B. Good luck.

What acraven said.

You are just going to waste precious time by looking up each recommendation. If you go to booking.com, you can check available right away for multiple listings, then check reviews before you book. It will go a lot quicker and will have better results for you.
